Jim DellaMorte, a 2020 high school graduate, has been studying piano with Sylvia Karkus Furash since 2012, and continues to expand his interest in the four musical eras. He enjoys performing works by Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, and Brahms, among other composers in the contemporary period including works by Lowell Liebermann and William Bolcom.
Jim has been honored by the Cape Cod Conservatory in winning first place in their scholarship auditions. He enjoys performing frequently at CC, at both the Falmouth and Barnstable campuses. On top of student performances at CC, Jim was a featured student representative in the May 2019 fund-raising event for the Cape Symphony.
Jim has also participated in classes with master teachers Robert Durso, and Yoriko Fieleke both from the Golandsky Institute.
Beyond the Conservatory, Jim has also won top prizes for 3 years from the Chatham Music Club, and continues to enjoy performing at the CMC meetings. Jim has also performed as a soloist for the All-Cape Piano Fund, at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cape Cod Cultural Center, and is a regular featured performer at the Open Mic-Classical in Brewster.
Jim currently is working on college applications, and is hoping to major in aerospace engineering or aeronautics, as well as minor in music. He received his private pilots license at age 17, and continues to enjoy training for future higher level ratings.
