Special Guest:

We are very excited to announce that our guest performer on Sunday, September 17th, 2017 will be pianist James DellaMorte.

Jim DellaMorte has been studying music on various instruments for quite some time. His violin studies have taken him beyond the Cape to Tufts. An empathic of J.S. Bach, he has been studying organ, as well, and practicing on an organ close to home.

His piano performances have included duo-partnering with his sister, Elizabeth (a violinist) and many four-hand collaborations with Andrew Juan throughout the Cape.

Jim, a student of Sylvia Karkus Furash for his almost six-year piano career at Cape Conservatory has placed Third, for two consecutive years in their Scholarship Competition; and this year First Place – Senior Division. Also, this year the Chatham Music Club recognized his outstanding performance of the Beethoven Sonate you are about to hear. He has performed at West Parish and Liberty Commons Rehab Home. He was performer at the Cape Symphony Annual Meeting, Cape and Islands Music Teachers Association events,

Cotuit Center for the Arts Showcase, the All Cape Piano Fund Concert, and Cape Cod Cultural Center.

Jim will finish this academic year with yet another guest-appearance at West Parish, and his sixth year of the National Guild of Piano Teachers – auditions. This will be his third year of playing a program of ten pieces (including musicianship phases)—a coveted gold-pin presentation!

Plans for future exciting repertoire are also prominent on his “to-do” list.

And speaking of ending the year – he will successfully complete his freshman year at Sturgis. Jim is very much looking forward to his flying lessons ~ a bit higher than the “eighty-eights.” However, this will mean sacrificing some of his reputation as the family baker.

So what is Open Mic Classical?

An “Open Mic” is for popular music only, right?

WRONG!

We are bringing you Open Mic Classical, a new experience in classical music, to help our community's musicians share their music with a friendly, supportive and appreciative audience.

Are you a doctor with a classical horn habit, or an orchestra member who misses playing in small ensembles? Are you an aspiring young student who doesn't ever get a chance to play with a pianist, but would like to develop your performing skills? Or a composer eager to try out your newest work?

Dust off your flugelhorn, oil your keys, drink your raw egg, and come share your talent in an intimate and casual atmosphere.

Admission is free, and classical musicians of all ages and levels are welcome.

Pianist on site is available on request to accompany you.

“Open Mic Classical” is brought to you by clarinetist Mónika Woods (winner of the Cape Symphony's 2013 Soloist Competition) and amateur violist and sculptor Robert Marcus representing First Parish Brewster, with Lucy Banner and Elizabeth Tipton as collaborative pianists.

It will be held at 3:00 pm on the third Sunday of every month through June at the Brewster Meeting House (1969 Main Street on Route 6A). Participants are asked to sign in at 2:45pm, rehearsal with pianist on request.

Whether you are an amateur musician, performing artist, fan of classical music, volunteer, venue or business seeking to sponsor a cause, please contact us.

Further information is available from Monika Woods www.klarinetista.com or by phone (774)-353-0244.
