In celebration of International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 8th, Cape Cod’s community radio station WOMR/WFMR will feature a day of programming highlighting women’s contributions, and presence that will include live music, special spoken-word programming, exclusive interviews, and more.

WOMR will provide a multi-genre jukebox of women vocalists, instrumentalists, and actors. Listeners will be treated to live performances from topnotch local musicians, The Enchanted Island live opera from the Met, indie rock, folk, country, jazz and samba, ‘60s women’s voices and global pop, a live music session with clarinetist/singer Monika Woods, a Cape resident originally from Eastern Europe, and a radio play, Flygirls, by local playwright Jeannette de Beauvoir.

Interviews will focus on positive global changes relating to women’s issues and will include the voices of Cape Cod journalist and sculptor Joyce Johnson, country folk singer Cathy Hatch, English folk treasure Zoe Lewis, classical pianist Althea Waites, and traditional Irish singer Noirin Lynch.
